Former Indianapolis Star printing factory to be reborn as Andretti Global's racing headquarters
One of America's most recognized names in racing has found a new home for its headquarters.
Andretti Global signed a lease in March 2025 for 8278 Georgetown Road in Indianapolis. The 240,538-square-foot property first opened in 1995 and was formerly the IndyStar Pulliam Production Center, the printing facility for the Indianapolis Star newspaper.
With a 10-year lease in place, Andretti converted the building to be its headquarters for the Andretti Global INDYCar, INDY NXT and Formula E racing teams.
The project has earned a 2026 CoStar Impact Award for Lease of the Year for Indianapolis, as judged by real estate professionals familiar with the market.
In a March 2025 news release, Andretti Global President Jill Gregory said the facility will be a "state-of-the-art racing and technology center" for the company's racing teams with a planned opening of summer 2025.
"The 240,000-square-foot former printing press facility provides a unique opportunity having both preexisting office and industrial space under one roof, making it uniquely suited to Andretti's needs, while providing exceptional opportunities for employee well-being and competition success," Gregory said in a statement.
Andretti Global's team didn't have to move far to find its new home as the Georgetown Road building is less than two miles from the company's Zionsville Road office. The renovations to 8278 Georgetown Road will include building technology enhancements, custom-built working and fabrication areas and several employee amenities, such as a fitness center, a "pit-stop performance space," and dining and gathering areas, according to Andretti Global's news release.
Chicago-based real estate firm Bradford Allen Development Company managed the redevelopment of Andretti Global's new space, including removing several printing presses and modernizing the building's interior.
About the project: Andretti Global is leasing more than 240,000 square feet at 8278 Georgetown Road and plans to convert the former Indianapolis Star newspaper printing facility into the new headquarters of Andretti Global's racing teams.
What the judges said: "The lease has double the impact, as it reflects the adaptive reuse of a functionally obsolete newspaper production center as well as the development of a new facility for motorsports, an industry at the very heart of the Indianapolis economy," said Sara Coers, associate director at Indiana University's Kelley School of Business.
